Beyond the Playground is a new initiative from the KPA created to help enhance communication within the school community.
As a charity, the KPA is governed by specific objectives of what we should achieve, one of which is to develop effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school.
The initiative aims to help with communication in several ways, which include:
Signposting pupil parents to year group specific Facebook groups, and helping create these groups when they do not yet exist
Encouraging parents to create and be included in class WhatsApp groups
Helping to answer parent questions where possible, and directing parents to the appropriate person or resource if we cannot
Creating parent-to-parent guides for each year group to guide and advise parents about the year ahead
Arranging summer holiday meet-ups for parents to offer new starters the chance to meet others from their classes. Older pupils will also have the chance to catch up with school friends over the holidays
We at the KPA fell this project is important as we know that being a parent of school children is a challenge. Parents may not know others from the school community, they may have commitments that prevent them socialising at events or at school pick ups. They may have small questions that they don’t want to trouble school staff with, or need advice outside of school hours. There are many different ways in which this project can help parents, and with the majority of it being through social media platforms, it is accessible at all times to parents.
